As part of the 78th Indian Independence Day Home/Institution Visitation, members of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited the District TB Hospital Khuzama on August 15. The hospital currently has seven patients, including one from Burma. During the visit, KPC members interacted briefly with the patients and also handed over several essential items.

In a brief introduction, Vishü Rita Krocha, General Secretary of the Kohima Press Club, remarked that while its members are occupied with their respective roles as journalists throughout the year, it is a privilege for the Press Club to participate in a humanitarian cause on the occasion of Independence Day. She recalled that KPC members visited the same institution in 2018 and extended prayers and best wishes for health and recovery to the patients on behalf of the KPC.

Senior Journalist and KPC Member H. Chishi encouraged the patients by noting that TB was once viewed as a much-dreaded disease, but advancements in medicine have changed this perception over time. He urged them to take their medication on time and follow their doctors’ advice with discipline, while wishing them the best.

Earlier, medical officer Dr  Kekhrievor Suohu provided a brief overview of the institution.
