The inaugural programme of the three-day workshop-cum-hackathon on “Agentic AI Saksham” under PM-USHA commenced on May 7 at the auditorium of Kohima Science College. The programme, being held from May 7 to 9 in partnership with Capabl.in, is the first initiative of its kind in Nagaland aimed at promoting AI upskilling and innovation among students.

The programme was chaired by Dr. Sedevikho Chase, convener of the organising committee.
Delivering the welcome address, Vice-Principal Kevilhuninuo Nagi described the event as a milestone for the state and highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in education and the workplace.
Quoting the saying, “AI won’t replace humans, but humans who use AI will replace those who don’t,” she encouraged participants to “explore, innovate and push the boundaries.” She also thanked PM-USHA, the Government of Nagaland, Capabl.in and the organising departments for supporting the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Sentiyanger Pongen and Additional Secretary of the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland, congratulated the college for becoming the first government college in the state to host such a programme under the Ministry of Education initiative.
“Yesterday was the era of computers and calculators, but today we stand at the threshold of a new intelligence, that is AI,” he said, while cautioning students against misuse of the technology. He further assured continued support from the department for innovative educational initiatives.
Founder and CEO of Capabl.in, Mayank Arora, said participants would build “powerful AI tools” during the three-day programme that would benefit them throughout their careers.
The inaugural session also featured the screening of a short documentary on the college.
