KU Mon Unit denounces firing incident in Longphoh Village
The Konyak Union Mon Unit has condemned the recent firing incident at Longphoh Village under Shangnyu EAC Headquarters in Mon District, which occurred in the early hours of August 18, 2024. The union has expressed strong disapproval of this act, highlighting their ongoing appeals for peace in Konyak areas.
In a statement, the Konyak Union Mon Unit has reiterated that the Konyak areas should not be used as a battleground by any party. They have called on all groups to adhere to the Eastern Nagaland People Organization’s (ENPO) resolution from December 18, 2007, which prohibits bloodshed, intimidation, and violence within its jurisdiction.
”At a time when human civilizations across the world are yearning for peaceful resolution to conflicts of any nature, it is extremely unfortunate that firing has been used to make a point,” the KU Mon Unit noted. “Violence, firing in any form and nature cannot be condoned by the Konyak Naga People,” it added.
The Konyak Union Mon Unit has also announced that they will not cooperate with any party or group responsible for creating similar situations in public areas.
