Mokokchung, 6 April (MTNews): In a breaking development demonstrating the seriousness of the ENPO’s call for abstention from the ensuing parliamentary elections, influential Konyak Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Saturday directed the NDPP president and chairman of PDA, N Chingwang Konyak, to “appear at the Konyak Union office” within two days for contravening the “explicit directives” set by the apex Konyak Union on 30 March 2024, directing all its citizens “not to engage in commentary remarks on the ENPO FNT matter.”

In a summon letter to the senior political leader, which was widely circulated on social media, the Konyak CSOs said that he made “adverse remarks” on 5 April 2024 at the Wokha election rally. “You have also on multiple occasions made unfavorable comments regarding the FNT issue. Your repeated disregard for the Eastern Nagaland (EN) community and the Konyaks in particular is totally unacceptable,” the Konyak CSOs said in the summon letter appended by KU president Tingthok Konyak, KSU president T Noklem Konyak, and Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) president Ponglem Konyak.

The Konyak CSOs stated that Chingwang Konyak’s actions “not only defy the authority of the Konyak CSO but also brought disgrace and humiliation upon the entire EN community, particularly the Konyak people whom you represent.” They further said, “Your conduct is unbecoming of a responsible citizen and a leader.”

“Therefore, you are hereby summoned to appear at the Konyak Union office at Mon Headquarters within 48 hours of receiving this notice to address the aforementioned violations and explain your actions,” the Konyak CSOs stated in the summon letter. “Failure to comply with this summon will leave the Konyak CSO with no option but to initiate stern disciplinary action against you,” the CSOs added.
