As tension lingers in Eastern Nagaland following the filing of nominations for the ensuing ULB elections, the Konyak Union through its media cell has appealed to the Nagaland state government to maintain peace and stability in Mon district.

According to the statement issued by its media cell, while Konyak Union is trying to settle ULB commotion peacefully within the society, the union has learnt that the Government of Nagaland and the Home department are sending additional forces to the district. The Konyak Union has expressed concern that such “tyrannical instigation and attitude is creating unwanted public alert/commotion that disrupts the peaceful environment of the land”.

In this regard, the Konyak Union has called for the immediate cancellation of the troop deployment to Mon district and demanded the withdrawal of personnel already stationed there within the next 24 hours.
The Konyak Union warned that failure to comply with this request would result in the authorities being held fully accountable for any untoward situation that may arise in future.
