Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, launched a month-long, 200-hour green skills training programme for rural youth, self-help group members from Chuchuyimpang and Alisungkum, and Fazl Ali College students at the Union Baptist Fellowship, FAC campus, on October 9.
KVK Mokokchung Senior Scientist and Head Dr. Keviletsu Khate said the training had been entrusted to the Kendra by NITI Aayog, Government of India, to equip participants with practical skills for employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship while promoting environmental protection and sustainable rural development.
He urged participants to use the skills acquired to start at least one entrepreneurial activity, noting that government job opportunities in the state were limited and that young people needed to explore other livelihood options.
Rev. Lima Lemtur, Pastor of Union Baptist Fellowship, FAC campus, encouraged participants to attend regularly and learn the skills to improve their livelihoods and address unemployment.
The programme was chaired by Tangitla, Technical Officer, KVK Mokokchung. Dr. Sarendi Walling, ACTO (Animal Science), proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the participants and the fellowship for collaborating with the Kendra.
