The Government of India launched the Poshan Pakhwada campaign from 8th to 22nd April 2025 to raise awareness and promote community participation in addressing malnutrition. Poshan Pakhwada 2025 focuses on the first 1000 days of a child’s life, as it is a critical period for child development. It also addresses childhood obesity by promoting healthier food choices.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, undertook various activities as part of the campaign from 8th to 22nd April 2025. The launch program was organized at Longmisa village on 8th April 2025. During the event, a Farmer-Scientist Interaction was held between the scientists of the Kendra and the farmers, where they discussed various agricultural crop management practices aimed at improving yields and generating better income for families.The program also included the distribution of livestock deworming medicines, vitamins, and mineral mixtures to ensure the provision of quality and safe livestock products to families. During the subsequent days of the campaign, held in different villages until its culmination on 22nd April 2025, several activities were conducted. These included ginger rhizome treatment with Trichoderma viride, distribution of quality day-old broiler chicks, and training programs on topics such as “Optimum Stage of Harvesting of Vegetables,” which emphasized harvesting at the right time to retain maximum nutrients.
Other sessions covered topics like crop diversification for income generation, soil fertility management for sustainable production, and backyard poultry management, along with the distribution of dual-purpose chickens and high-quality vegetable seeds.
During the campaign, a total of 99 female and 20 male beneficiaries from different villages were reached.
