KVK Mokokchung launches Krishi Samridhi Swarna Week

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung, on 6 December, officially launched the five-day Krishi Samridhi Swarna Week (KSSW) in collaboration with the District Soil Conservation Office and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The event, held at the KVK Campus in Yisemyong, marked the Golden Jubilee Celebration of KVKs across the country.


The Krishi Samridhi Swarna Week aimed to uplift the farming community through various activities, including training sessions, farmer-scientist interactions, workshops, and animal health camps. During the event, KVK Mokokchung will organize and conduct a series of programs at different locations.

Dr Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Mokokchung, emphasized the significance of the KSSW celebrations across the nation. He also highlighted the Kendra’s role in supporting farmers and introduced the Kisan Sarathi Portal, which provides multilingual support for farmers seeking advisories on agriculture, horticulture, fishery, and animal husbandry.

Poji, DDM of NABARD, congratulated KVK on its Golden Jubilee and commended the collaboration between KVK and NABARD for the welfare of the farming community. He encouraged farmers to adopt scientific technologies effectively and emphasized the importance of marketing for their success.

Priscilla, SDO of Changtongya, delivered a detailed speech on the theme of World Soil Day 2024, “Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor, and Manage.” She explained the formation of soil, the time it takes to form an inch of soil, and the need for sustainable soil management to ensure conservation.

As part of the event, soil health cards were distributed to farmers under the TDF Aliba scheme. The program also featured an exhibition where various products and technologies were showcased. Farmers actively engaged with KVK experts during the exhibition.

An animal health camp was conducted, providing deworming medicine and vitamin-mineral mixtures to participants. Additionally, chicks, soil moisture indicators, and knapsack sprayers were distributed. Altogether, 40 participants from Chuchuyimlang, Aliba, New Yaongyimti, Old Yaongyimti, Mongsenyimti, and Mopungchuket attended the KSSW launch.

The event concluded with the inauguration of a Pig Breeding Unit, supported by NABARD, by Poji, DDM Mokokchung. A Vermicomposting Unit, constructed with assistance from the District Soil Conservation Office, was also inaugurated by Priscilla, SDO Changtongya.
