The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Nagaland state unit has declared its intent to contest the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections. The announcement was made during the party’s state unit executive meeting held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, on Saturday.
Yitachu, the spokesperson for LJP (RV) Nagaland, elucidated on the party’s decision, highlighting the critical role ULBs play in local self-governance at the town level. He emphasized that ULBs impact vital services such as water supply, roads, footpaths, drainage systems, and electricity, thereby influencing various facets of town life. He also mentioned that the party will contest the ULB election with or without a party ticket.
Regarding the number of candidates, the spokesperson said they have candidates for both municipal and town councils, but the exact number of candidates contesting under the LJP (RV) party ticket is yet to be finalized. He also added that since there is women’s reservation this time, the LJP (RV) will definitely field women candidates if the party finds any suitable candidates.
