Night Carnival conclude successfully
The Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) Open Penalty Shootout, organized in aid of the LKM Sports Excellency Award, concluded successfully on 29 November with a total prize pool of Rs 1,55,000. The event was held alongside the LKM Night Carnival, which also came to a successful close with overwhelming support from the public, an update said.
I Sentinuklu Jamir, Councillor, Dimapur Municipal Council, graced the tournament as the Special Guest. In his address, he encouraged youngsters to be disciplined players and reminded the gathering that Nagas possess exceptional sporting talent, yet many are unable to fully utilize their potential due to inadequate sports infrastructure. He appealed to the government to prioritize better facilities for the youth.
The program also highlighted the purpose of the LKM Sports Excellency Award by Imtinuklu Jamir, LKM Sports Secretary. The LKM Tournament, initiated by the apex body in 1940 and handed over to LKM in 1951, has long united the Langpangkong range. To preserve this legacy and inspire young talents to reach state, national, and international levels, LKM introduced the Sports Excellency Award.
After a spirited contest, 6 Brothers emerged as champions, RM Boys secured the runners-up position, and Akuli was awarded Best Goalkeeper.
The Night Carnival, organized in support of the same cause, also concluded on a vibrant and positive note, attracting a large turnout and showcasing strong community participation.
LKM expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, supporters, leaders, well-wishers, and the public whose contributions and presence ensured the successful completion of both the Penalty Shootout and the Night Carnival. The events reaffirmed LKM’s ongoing commitment to promoting sports, preserving its legacy, and nurturing young talents across the range.
