A seminar on “CMMFI and Bank Loan Subsidies” under the theme “Uplift Langpangkong” was successfully held at Changtongya Town Hall today. Organized by the Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) in collaboration with Swavalamban Connect Kendra (SCK), IDAN, Mokokchung, the event forms part of the 75th Jubilee celebrations of LKM and follows resolutions adopted at Chuchuyimlang to promote entrepreneurship among youth from the Langpangkong range.
LKM President Imlinok welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the seminar. He noted that while today’s youth possess education, training, skills, and wisdom, many are unable to start their entrepreneurial journey due to financial constraints. “After thorough research, we focused on financial linkages to help young entrepreneurs realize their potential,” he said.
Imlinok emphasized that the seminar also aligns with LKM’s initiatives such as the Clean Elections and Survival Mokokchung Campaigns, pointing out that financially independent youth are less likely to be influenced by money during elections. He further stated that fostering local entrepreneurship will help reduce the dominance of non-local businesses in the region.
While acknowledging that government jobs are respectable, the President urged youngsters not to limit their ambitions to such positions alone. “With the wisdom given by God, one must work hard and strive for excellence,” he said, quoting the Bible. He also pointed out that Nagaland currently has the second highest unemployment rate in India, and emphasized that LKM aims to combat unemployment while creating a generation of self-reliant entrepreneurs.
During his exhortation, Akumtoshi Longkumer, an entrepreneur from Changtongya, urged youth to embrace technological advancement and pursue their own ventures rather than depending solely on jobs. “Success is not in doing someone else’s work but in dedicating yourself to your own calling. Each individual is unique and has a purpose; one must understand their calling and begin their life journey,” he said. He also emphasized discipline, financial prudence, and clarity of objectives as essential traits for entrepreneurs, and encouraged young people to adopt long-term vision and serious commitment. “Rich talk about things, poor talk about money problems, and the wealthy talk about ideas. Where do you want to be?” he asked. Longkumer further expressed his commitment to mentor and uplift serious unemployed youth in the region through upcoming projects.
The seminar included two technical sessions. Temsurenla, Centre Manager of SCK, IDAN, Mokokchung, highlighted the Chief Minister’s Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI), while Chuba Zungba Ao, Manager of State Bank of India, Tuli Branch, spoke on bank loans and subsidies for startups. Both sessions emphasized the importance of vision, clarity, discipline, and hard work in achieving entrepreneurial success, and encouraged youth to leverage financial schemes to start their ventures.
The program was chaired by Sentisenla, with Limasungkum, Pastor of Nagamese Baptist Church, invoking the session. Sangwa Jamir of LKM moderated the program, Manen Pongen delivered the vote of thanks, and P Onen Lkr led the mass prayer.
The seminar marked a significant step in LKM’s ongoing efforts to combat unemployment and foster a generation of self-reliant entrepreneurs in Nagaland.
