The Langpangkong Students’ Conference (LKM) and LKM Road Coordinator Committee (LKMRCC) set a deadline on July 26, 2024, for KKB Rülho Road Construction Company, stating that if there are no improvements in the NH-02 road construction and the public continues to face difficulties, the LKM will take its own course of action.

Following this, a meeting was held through Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung at the DC conference hall on July 29, 2024, where KKB Rülho Construction Company acknowledged their shortcomings and requested more time for the road construction. After deliberation, the LKM extended the deadline to August 8, 2024, with the company assuring they would avoid inconveniencing commuters by the new deadline. An inspection of the road is scheduled for August 9, 2024, involving various stakeholders such as Administration, Ao Senden, Authority Engineer, Company, and Langpangkong RCC as directed by the Deputy Commissioner.

LKM said in a press release that, despite the extension, the initial letter from LKM regarding the July 30 deadline will be upheld, and any future issues causing public inconvenience due to road conditions will be reevaluated with serious consequences. The meeting, organized by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, included representatives from Administration, Ao Senden, Executive Engineer-NH, Project Incharge, LKM office, and LKMRCC.

Beginning in 1933 and extending into the future, the Langpangkong leaders and early pioneers dedicated 13 years to constructing the Langpangkong road, a narrative deeply ingrained in the essence of LKM. Their decision to forgo land compensation in the pursuit of development, establishing a land compensation-free policy, has earned the heartfelt gratitude of the LKM community. The commitment to maintaining the LKM jurisdiction as a ‘taxation-free zone’ remains resolute, a testament to their unwavering stance both now and in the future. Consequently, it has been emphasized to the public through a news reporter that no individuals or groups should disrupt the ongoing work on NH-02.
