Longleng, 4 July: The first Open Futsal Tournament organized by the Orangkong Students, Nyengching Unit, Longleng, commenced on July 4th, 2024, at the public playground in Longleng.
SDO (Civil) Longleng, Meyazungba Jamir, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his speech, Jamir expressed his fondness for the futsal game in the past. He appreciated the organizers and the participants for coming together and promoting the game in a place like Longleng, which has fewer infrastructures related to the game.
He also encouraged the players to play in a manner that would enable them to represent Nagaland at various levels. He expressed his wish to see young players competing at the highest level.
Additionally, he announced that Longleng District would soon establish its own Futsal Ground under the government’s initiative, similar to other districts in Nagaland.
