Phom organizations submit representation to DC Longleng seeking swift justice and transparent investigation

The Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC), Phomla Hoichem (PH), and Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) jointly organized a solidarity rally on October 27 in Longleng to honour and remember the lives lost on October 25 in the tragic hit-and-run case.

Citizens of Longleng join a solidarity rally on October 27, 2025, demanding justice for the victims of the alleged paramilitary hit-and-run incident. All business establishments and educational institutions in the district remained closed in support.

Hundreds of citizens gathered at the rally as a mark of respect, unity, and collective mourning. The three organizations reiterated the importance of standing together in grief and in the pursuit of justice and accountability for the victims and their families.

As part of the observance, all business establishments, educational institutions, schools, and colleges across Longleng district remained closed during the duration of the rally – a gesture of solidarity and respect for the bereaved families.

Following the rally, the three organizations also submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, urging early justice in the hit-and-run case that occurred on October 25, 2025.

In the representation, the organizations expressed “profound grief and deep concern” over the loss of two innocent lives and lamented the apparent delay in justice. They stated that the incident has caused “immense sorrow and outrage among the public” while the affected families continue to suffer.

The representation called on the district administration to: Identify and bring the culprit(s) to justice without further delay; Conduct a transparent investigation to determine all facts, including whether any official or institutional vehicle was involved; Ensure adequate compensation and necessary support for the bereaved families as per law and humanitarian consideration.

The signatories, Y Bangam Phom (President, PPC), A. Ainyu Phom (President, PH), and C Shame Phom (President, PSC), emphasized that “timely and just action will not only bring solace to the grieving families but also uphold public faith in the rule of law and the district administration.
