Longleng, December 17 (MTNews): Addressing the people of Longleng during the inauguration of Polytechnic Hukphang, Longleng today, Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio informed that out of the 10 Polytechnic institutions in the state three institutions were established in Mon, Tuensang, and Longleng under the ENPO area. The Chief Minister also asserted that the target of his government was for an “equal share of the development of the whole state irrespective of districts and tribes,” a DIPR report said.

The Chief Minister congratulated the Technical Education Department and the people of Longleng district for completing the project as committed by the Government. He was optimistic that the inauguration in the district will benefit the people in shaping their destination with their available technical skills as education is the backbone of any kind of development.

 

Highlighting various infrastructure developments under ENPO jurisdiction, the CM asserted that 40 percent of the PMGSY scheme is invested in the development of ENPO areas. Rio also highlighted the construction of the National Highway from Mon to Dimapur via Pangsha, Noklak, Kephire, and Zhuneboto. Another foothill road project along with rail connectivity from Tizit under Mon district to Dimapur is also underway, he said.

 

The CM also announced that a civil engineering college in Longleng with 30 students will be launched shortly and followed up in other districts. He was hopeful that the equal contribution and full cooperation of the district’s departments, institutions, landowners, and public leaders will bring the institute’s reputation. Rio further informed that for the development of ENPO areas, four administrative headquarters have been upgraded to full districts including Longleng.

 

Appealing to the people to take responsible roles and ownership of the Polytechnic institute, he said that without the cooperation and support of the local people, establishment of any kind of institution will be a failure. The CM exhorted the gathering to jointly shoulder the responsibility without blaming the government.

 

Pointing out that Longleng is the gateway to the people of Tuensang, Aboi, Tobu, and Mon, Rio said the ongoing development of good road connectivity in the district will contribute to the economic growth of the people.

 

Rio further informed about the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) launched during the visit of the Union Finance Minister to the state. He urged the people to avail the insurance card from the district administration and hospitals in the district. He said the insurance covers every citizen of the state with Rs.5 lakh per family and Rs.20 lakh per family for government employees for their contribution towards the CMHIS.

 

The CM also spoke on Chief Minister Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI) scheme launched for the unemployed youths. He said the main purpose of the scheme was to create job opportunities as government jobs are saturated. He urged the people to use the opportunity provided by the Government.

 

The Minister for Health & Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom; Advisor to CM for Technical & Education and Election Department Medo Yhokha; Deputy Commissioner of Longleng Dharam Raj; and Village Council Chairman Hukphang also spoke at the inaugural program.

 

The welcome address was proposed by the chairperson Sentiyanger Pongen, Addl. Secretary, Department of Higher & Technical Education. Invocation and the technical report were proposed by Rev. H. Beau, Pastor LTBC, and Er. Hokato Sema, EE Education, Division Nagaland respectively.

 

Earlier, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the FCI godown in Longleng. The 640 MT capacity godown was inaugurated in the presence of host of Ministers and MLAs and Department Officials including Secretary and Director of F&CS, Government of Nagaland.
