Mokokchung, August 1 (MTNews): The Longtrok Senden of Ungma in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur conducted its 37th edition of “Sobaliba Sayu,” which is Ao for ‘cultural display,’ at the Babu Tzübo Amphitheater in Ungma village Monday evening. The cultural folk dance event was graced by the presence of Tonpang Ozükum, Minister of PWD Housing & Mechanical as chief guest.

 

Tongpang Ozükum during a brief exhortation congratulated the organizers for their notable efforts to promote the cultural heritage of the community and preserving the sacred traditions and customs of the forefathers.

 

He went on to encourage the participating clubs that, as tournaments, there will be winners as well as losers but he asserted that all the participating clubs were extravagantly good in his eyes.

 

Rarenpenba, Tatar, Ungma said that the aim of the competition was to help preserve Ao culture and tradition for the future generations.
Altogether 9 clubs from Ungma village participated in the annual cultural folk dance competition.

 

This year United Soyim Club emerged the champion of the event while Longtrok Senden Club bagged the runners-up position. The winners and runners up were awarded with certificates and cash awards. The competition was judged in 4 criteria’s – attire, tribal call, dance and song. The organizers also announced during the occasion that an award for the best drum beat would also be given from next year.

‘PCNPI resolved that Framework Agreement should be reviewed, referred’

 

Tongpang Ozukum while speaking at the 37th Sobaliba Sayu organized by Longtrok Senden Ungma in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur said that the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue has at its meeting held on July 16, 2022 resolved that the Framework Agreement should be “reviewed, referred” between the Government of India and the negotiating party. He said that the 60 legislators as facilitators had adopted the resolution and that, “To honor or not to honor the resolution is up to the Government of India and the negotiating party but we, as facilitators, have done our job.”
