Wokha, 14 July (MTNews): The Lotha Eloe Hoho hosted a one-day workshop on the usage of traditional attires for women at Lotha Hoho Ki in Wokha to raise awareness and highlight the significance of traditional attire among the younger generation. The event, held on the 14 July, aimed to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Lotha women.

The workshop received commendation from Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, who recognized the efforts of the Lotha Eloe Hoho in organizing such initiatives. In his address, Ranjan emphasized the importance of preserving cultural practices as a means to uphold tradition and identity. He further encouraged the efficient use of traditional handlooms, artifacts, and attire to sustain livelihoods within the community.

 

Loyibeni Kitha, the special guest of the program, urged all women to collaborate with the Lotha Eloe Hoho in their endeavor to safeguard and promote Lotha women’s traditional attires. Kitha stressed the need to comprehend the significance of each attire and emphasized their appropriate use to preserve the community’s unique identity.

 

During the workshop, Mhalo TM Lotha read out the regulations pertaining to the usage of Lotha women’s traditional attires. Additionally, Abeni ET Ezung, Limomo Jami (representative of Lotha Hoho), and District Cultural Officer Zuthungo Yanthan delivered short speeches, further emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting Lotha women’s traditional attire.

 

The event provided a valuable opportunity for Lotha women to delve into their rich cultural heritage by familiarizing themselves with the proper usage of traditional attire. By doing so, they contribute to the continuity and preservation of their unique identity within the community.
