The Lotha Naga community in Mokokchung under the aegis of the Lotha Hoho Mokokchung celebrated the premier Tokhü Emong festival on Tuesday at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s residence with ADC Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe NCS as the special guest.
The event, chaired by Grace Patton, Women Leader, Lotha Baptist Church Mokokchung, began with an opening prayer by Dr Renbi Rangthang, Associate Professor, CTC Aolijen. Lotha Hoho Mokokchung president Prof. Athungo Ovung delivered the welcome address while the Mokokchung Lotha Students’ Union presented the welcome song.
Other highlights of the day included the Advisor of Mokokchung Lotha Hoho, Roben Shitio narrating the history and significance of Tokhu Emong to the gathering, a folk fusion song presented by Ms Naomi and friends, Fazl Ali College, and the special guest’s address. The day also featured presentations of the Hoho’s general secretary and finance secretary reports. Lotha Hoho Mokokchung vice president Nyanthung Ngullie moved the vote of thanks which was followed by Rev W Khonimo Odyuo, Pastor, Lotha Baptist Church Mokokchung pronouncing the invocation and grace. This was followed by Tokhü festivities and a mass community feast.
