Mokokchung, July 15 (MTNews): An annexe of Unit School DEF Mokokchung, Lt. Ved Prakash IPS Memorial Building was inaugurated at the school premises by Z. Samson Vijay Kumar, General Manager (P), NHIDCL Mokokchung on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Z. Samson Vijay Kumar expressed his hope that the pupils would have a bright future, noting that computer knowledge is an important component of children’s education and future.
During a brief speech, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, noted that the current school, which is being upgraded with a new structure that contains a science and computer lab, was a noble initiative and hoped that the institution will provide quality education to its students.
The DC also thanked the NHIDCL for its support to the school through its CSR funding, and urged the NHIDCL to remain a developmental partner in the district and state for the improvement of society.
During a brief project report, Imtimeren, Addl. SP Mokokchung & Chairman, Unit School, DEF Mokokchung stated that the school was a welfare school supported by police personnel contributions. The school now has 101 students and 12 teaching and non-teaching personnel, he added.
The new annexe building is the result of a partnership with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, who sponsored a fully working computer lab with 10 computers and a solar power system. The structure was finished in one year on a budget of Rs. 23,40,500 and houses five rooms with the option of upgrading to smart classrooms.
Aotula T. Imchen, IPS, Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, presided over the event, while Rev. Temsu, Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Mokokchung, delivered a dedicatory prayer.
The structure is named after Late Ved Prakash, IPS, former SP Mokokchung, who was martyred in the line of duty on August 26, 1994.
