A two-day District Level Training on Mother’s Absolute Affection (MAA) for CHOs, Staff Nurses, and ANMs began today, September 19, 2024, at the CMO Conference Hall in Mokokchung.

In her welcome speech, Dr Limanaro, DPO (RCH & UIP), urged participants to be attentive, to learn, share, and implement the knowledge and practices acquired during the training.

The Resource Person, Dr Imlisenba Lemtur, a pediatrician at IMDH, highlighted that the mother is the most effective caregiver for a child. During his presentation, Dr Lemtur used a PowerPoint to discuss optimal infant and young child feeding practices and breastfeeding definitions.

Dr Lemtur emphasized the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits for both mother and child. He also covered topics such as the causes of refusal to breastfeed, an overview of infant feeding and HIV, feeding during illness and recovery, and the nutrition and health of lactating mothers.

A practical session for participants was subsequently held at IMDH Mokokchung.
