Mokokchung, 13 April (MTNews): In his maiden visit to Mokokchung, Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan insisted that basic services like health care, drinking water and financial institutions be made available at the doorstep of the citizens, especially for the downtrodden people.

 

 

 

 

He also urged upon the officers of the concerned departments to ensure that the flagship programs of government pertaining to basic services are diligently implemented for the welfare of the people and requested the Deputy Commissioner of the district to have periodic review on the implementation of the various schemes and programs in the district.

 

Addressing a meeting with the Head of Offices and leaders of civil society organizations of the District at the DC’s Conference Hall on 13 April, the Governor also shared his optimism that the political problem of Nagaland will be solved and that Nagaland would prosper and be at par with the rest of the country.

 

The Governor, while mentioning that it was his maiden visit to the district, said he was aware of many good things about Mokokchung district and the Ao community, such as being the pioneer in many fields and also being the cleanest town in the State and also in the North East.

 

The Governor also acknowledged the people of the district for the huge turnout of voters during the recently concluded General Election and maintained that there can be rule of law only with the active participation of the people. He further reminded the people not to undermine the election process and the electorates if the society is to move forward.

 

Representatives from the Ao Senden, Watsü Mungdang, AKM, GB Union, All Ward Union Mokokchung Town, Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other civil society representatives also shared their grievances and opinions on certain issues related to ULB Election, Naga political solution, women empowerment, Civil Service Project (UPSC aspirant Trust Fund), drinking water problem in Mokokchung Town, proper road connectivity of all the districts, etc.

 

In response, the Governor said that he would draft a letter to the concerned Ministers and the Chief Minister and assured that he would do whatever he can in his capacity.
