Mokokchung, October 12 (MTNews): The first match of the day witnessed an exciting yet one sided encounter between neighbors Marepkong Youth Association and Mongsenbai FC at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex Mokokchung.

Moanungsang MSC Vs Youngster Team

The Mongsenbai drew first blood in the 23rd minute with Imnatoshi scoring past the befuddled goaltender Lanulemba. Opantuzüng and Shiponglepba scored for the side in the 29th and 33rd minutes of the first half, respectively.

Imnatoshi scored his brace just three minutes into the second half, giving the team a comfortable advantage. Menjor, who came in for Shiponglepba, scored again one minute later, adding salt to the Marepkong side’s wound. Temjenmeren, who came in for Imnatoshi and Vinoka Aye, left no stone unturned, scoring a goal each in the second half’s injury time.

Goalie Sashikumba found it easy keeping his gloves and cleats clean as the match finished 7-0 in favour of Mongsenbai, unlike his Marepkong counterpart, who was drenched in mud from the abuse of the relentless Mongsenbai offences.

The second match of the day, played between Youngster Team and Moanungsang Memorial Sports Club, saw the latter seize complete possession of the field and make several efforts at goal. Inovi Chishi led the Moanungsang side to an early lead, winning a deal for the club in the 11th minute. The encounter also featured aggressive play from both sides, with Moanungsang’s offences appearing to be too much for the debutant Youngsters Team. Moanungsang’s maestro defensive back Molutsupong, who had recently played for the Mokokchung District team in the Dr. T Ao Trophy 2022 and NOPG, did not disappoint, scoring in the 58th minute to seal the deal for the team and ending the match with a final score line of 2-0 in favour of Moanungsang Memorial Sports Club.
