The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in association with the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), has launched the second phase of its nationwide mediation initiative, ‘Mediation for the Nation 2.0’, a 90-day intensive drive aimed at settling pending court cases through mediation.
The campaign has been conceptualised under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India and Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, who also serves as Executive Chairman of NALSA and Chairman of MCPC.
Following the successful completion of ‘Mediation for the Nation 1.0’ in 2025, the second edition will be implemented across all Taluk Courts, District Courts, and High Courts in the country. In Nagaland, data from the first phase shows that the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) amicably settled 90 cases out of 397 matters referred by District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) and the High Court Legal Services Committee.
For the upcoming drive scheduled to begin in March 2026, NSLSA has directed all DLSAs in the state to conduct mediation sessions as part of the national campaign.
Cases eligible for mediation include matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence cases, cheque bounce matters, commercial disputes, service matters, compoundable criminal cases, consumer disputes, partition and eviction cases, land acquisition matters, and other suitable civil disputes.
Advocates, litigants, and the general public have been encouraged to avail themselves of the campaign. For further details, individuals may approach DLSA front offices at district court premises, the NSLSA office in Kohima, or contact the helpline numbers provided by the authority.
