Deinu Pojar of Class IX, S. Pethüry School, secured first position at the Meluri District Students’ Science Seminar 2026 held at EBRC Hall, Meluri, on September 29.
Etho Noah Nyusou, also of S. Pethüry School, secured second position, while Hafija Begam Laskar of Class IX, St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, finished third.
The seminar was organised by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Meluri, in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Nagaland, in commemoration of National Science Day 2026. It was held on the theme “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.”
Ten students representing five schools participated in the district-level seminar, which sought to promote scientific temper, creativity and communication skills among students while highlighting the contribution of women in science.
The presentations were evaluated by Amo Thurr, Coordinator, EBRC Meluri; Thsükuotho Phoji, Graduate Teacher, GMS Meluri Village; and Rejoy Fithu, Graduate Teacher, GHS Akhegwo.
The winners received citations and cash awards, while all participants were presented certificates.
SDEO (Additional Charge) Kaitunchap Newmai congratulated the participants and appreciated the school heads and guide teachers for their support.
The seminar was also Newmai’s last major academic programme as SDEO, Meluri, ahead of his superannuation on September 30 after 35 years of service in the School Education Department.
