The Department of English, Baptist College Kohima (BCK), organised the 9th edition of its Literature Fest on September 25 at Rivenburgs Memorial Chapel on the theme “The Living Anthology: Connecting the Scholar, the Author, and the Stage.”
The fest featured a student colloquium on “Literature and Society”, with eight students presenting papers exploring the links between literature, culture, identity and social life. The presentations covered indigenous narratives, oral traditions, popular literature, language, gender, cultural memory and literature in the digital age.
Pipivi Sheqi was adjudged Best Presenter, while Thejalelie Keyho won Best Paper.
The session “Telling Our Stories: Memory, Identity and Imagination” featured author and Assistant Professor Machipeibo Zeliang of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, who spoke on the role of memory in the creative writing process. He shared how his grandparents, their dreams, prayers and stories influenced his work.
In the Inter-College Open Mic Competition, Apuka Zhimo of BCK won first position, followed by Mhalevonuo Khezhie of Kohima College and Rokonuo Mekro of Alder College in second and third positions respectively.
