The Office of the Sub Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Meluri, in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Nagaland, Kohima, successfully conducted the Meluri District Students’ Science Seminar on May 30, 2025, at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Meluri, commemorating National Science Day 2025.

The event, themed ”Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” marked a significant milestone as the inaugural and first-ever district-level activity for students since Meluri’s official attainment of district status on February 21, 2025.
Eight students from four prominent schools in Meluri participated in the seminar, showcasing their innovative spirit and scientific acumen. The event culminated in the announcement of winners, with Lorraine Singson, Class 10, St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School securing first place; Atsürhe Nyuthe, Class 10, St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in second place; and Atsaking Pechungri, Class 10, Presbyterian High School in third place.
Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners. Participation certificates along with cash incentives were also given to all participants.
The SDEO, Meluri, expressed pride in the students’ achievements, emphasizing the importance of nurturing scientific temper and creativity among young minds. The event concluded with a call to action for continued innovation and exploration, paving the way for a brighter future.
