MGM College, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Department of Calligraphy, Wandering Minds College of Fine Arts, organised a one-day workshop titled “An Introduction to the Art of Lettering” on October 17 to promote creativity and artistic expression among students.
The workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of calligraphy, different lettering styles and techniques, and the artistic principles of transforming written words into creative expressions.
Sessions were conducted by Maongyangla Lemtur, Nivika K Zhimomi and Vizokhotuo Suokhrie of Wandering Minds College of Fine Arts. Through demonstrations and hands-on activities, the resource persons guided participants in exploring lettering techniques and developing their own creative approaches.
Students and interested faculty members took part in the workshop, which provided practical exposure to calligraphy beyond conventional classroom learning. The activities also encouraged participants to develop patience, precision and confidence in artistic expression.
The initiative highlighted the role of collaboration between educational institutions in promoting art, culture and skill-based learning. MGM College said the workshop reflected its commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore their talents, acquire practical skills and pursue interests beyond the academic curriculum.
