Minister Salhoutuonuo emphasizes skill development for construction workers in Nagaland

Speaking as the guest of honor at the closing program of Skill Proficiency Management for building and other construction workers in Khonoma village today, Kruse viewed that, with government jobs having reached a saturation point, it has become crucial for Nagas to empower themselves with necessary knowledge and skills to access job opportunities in the construction sector.

“When we have equipped ourselves with the required skills and techniques, it will pave the way for personal growth as well as professional advancement,” Kruse stated. While congratulating the trainees on successful completion of the first level of the training, she also advised them to continuously evaluate and identify areas for improvement and seek further training to grow professionally.

The Minister also thanked the NBOCWWB (Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board) and ZIS (Zynorique Initiatives Society) for conducting the training program for the people.

Forty-eight people from the Western Angami region have completed the first level of Skill Proficiency Management for building and other construction workers’ advanced training of trainers (TOT) for 2022-2023. They were trained in plumbing, tiling, and electrical work for a week in Khonoma village, starting on 9 October. The training program was sponsored by the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) and conducted by the Zynorique Initiatives Society (ZIN).

Speaking on the occasion, CEO of NBOCWWB, Chubayanger Aier, and Richard Belho, Chairman of Zynorique Initiatives Society, also emphasized the importance of skill development. They urged the trainees to make the best use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training to grow professionally.

Later, the Minister presented completion certificates and tools, including tile cutters and hammer drills, free of cost to the trainees, while the best trainees were awarded an extra tool, a circular saw.
