Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani informed today that life insurance and accidental cover benefits up to Rs 2 lakh have been extended to every Anganwadi worker, and every State government has been informed about it.
Replying to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha today, she mentioned that the pension scheme has been extended to these workers under the Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Mandhan Yojana. Ms Irani also stated that for every community-based event, Rs 250 is given to workers, and Rs 500 is given if the worker visits the house of the beneficiary or measures a child according to WHO standards.
The Minister added that the benefits of Ayushman Bharat have been extended to Anganwadi and ASHA workers as per the interim budget announcement made yesterday.
