To be launched in Nagaland on April 5

The first phase of training on Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) Project was held today at ADC (Planning) Conference Hall, Mokokchung, with officials from National Informatics Center, Mokokchung, as resource persons today, where Mokokchung Police officials were imparted training on iRAD.

 

The Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) Project is an initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India and is funded by World Bank, with the objective to improve road safety in the country.

While the project has been rolled out in other states, it is expected to be launched in the districts of Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung on April 5 next, followed by the rest of the districts of the state.

iRAD is a comprehensive web-based Information Technology (IT) solution which will facilitate road accident data collection by 4 stakeholder departments Police, Transport, Highways & Health Departments following Standard operating procedure. Through collection of road accident data from all over the country, a road accident database will be developed.

 

The collected data will be analyzed using different data analytics techniques for identification of accident prone areas and causes of the accidents. The analysis output will be represented in appropriate dashboards, accessible to higher authorities of stakeholder departments and MoRTH.

 

And accordingly strategy will be formed for reduction of number of road accidents in India and enhance road safety. NICSI & IIT Madras have been jointly entrusted to carry out design, Development, Training, and implementation of iRAD project, along with research & analysis activities.
