The Sub Divisional Planning and Developmental Board, Bhandari (SDPDB), convened for its July meeting at the newly inaugurated Summer House-Cum-Guest House in Bhandari on July 8, 2024.

MLA and Chairman of SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, opened the session by extending a warm welcome to new members and congratulating the recently elected Councillors following the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections for the Town Council Bhandari. He commended ADC & RO Bhandari, Longdiba L. Sangtam, and his team for conducting a fair and peaceful election, marking a new phase of systematic progress for the community.

Addressing the performance of government schools in the sub-division, Achumbemo Kikon issued a caution to underperforming schools with unsatisfactory results, urging them to improve to avoid potential actions. He also emphasized the need for government officers to utilize allocated funds judiciously and transparently for the benefit of the public.

Highlighting agricultural initiatives,  Kikon directed Jacob Yanthan to prioritize the Yanmhon Village aspirational areas, aiming to link local farmers under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) for the export of organic agricultural produce within and beyond the state.

Throughout the meeting, various departments presented action plans for implementing government schemes in the aspirational villages of Yanmhon, outlining their strategies and upcoming activities.

The meeting also featured discussions on ongoing activities by the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Bhandari, focusing on nutrition, seminars, and awareness campaigns benefiting pregnant women, lactating mothers, and young girls.

Looking ahead, the SDPDB deliberated on road infrastructure improvements under the annual maintenance plan in foothill areas, including road widening projects. The Power department highlighted challenges in maintaining uninterrupted power supply, urging coordinated efforts from local leadership to address manpower shortages and ensure efficient service delivery.

Jacob Yanthan, Managing Director & CEO of the State Agricultural Produce & Livestock Marketing Board (SAPLMB) Dimapur, provided an overview of agricultural marketing efforts across Nagaland, underscoring the formation of APMCs and village marketing committees to support farmers statewide.

The session concluded with Rev. Longshithung Lotha, Pastor of Baptist Church, Bhandari Town, dedicating the Summer House-Cum-Guest House with a prayer, marking its significance as a new community asset.

Earlier,  Kikon inaugurated the newly constructed three-room Summer House-Cum-Guest House, a project under the LADP Iconic Project 2023-2024.
