A dedication and launching program for the construction of the T01 (Doyang) to Mangmetong Road, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)—a flagship program of the central government—was held at Sungro Town Community Hall on Friday.


Mhathung Yanthan, MLA and Advisor for Agriculture Government of Nagaland during his speech, thanked the R & B Department and the stakeholders for their concerns and support. He also narrated how this project was started and implemented.

Advisor for Agriculture and MLA of the constituency, Mhathung Yanthan, stated that this 36-kilometer project, valued at 46 crore rupees, spans across five districts. Yanthan stated that the road represents a dream project that will not only serve as a vital transportation link but also strengthen relationships, foster friendships, and ultimately drive holistic development in the region. He appealed the stakeholders to work according to the specification.

The long-cherished aspiration of the people of this region has finally come to fruition with the sanctioning of this crucial project under PMGSY Phase-3, Yanthan later posted on X.

“The overwhelming response from the local community, as demonstrated by the large turnout of neighboring villagers, and the strong resolve to ensure the success of this project was a powerful testament to the deep gratitude and anticipation they have towards this project,” added.

He expressed optimism that this road, once completed, will bring transformative growth, enhancing the quality of life for the people, while strengthening the socio-economic fabric of the region.

As per an update by the Media & Communication, NDPP Wokha, Er Meren Imchen, Engineer In-charge for PMGSY representing PWD (R&B) told the contractor to follow the specifications as well as requested the land owners to co-operate with the contractor and told them to let the dream road come into reality.

All the Chairman of the affected land owners (Pangti, Okotso, Mangmetong and Longkhum Villages) assured to give full co-operation to the Department and contractor.

Proprietor of M/S LPSS Infra, Abel P Shohe, and representatives from the villages of Mangmetong, Longkhum, Okotso, and Pangti also delivered short speeches while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev Manglio Ngullie, pastor, Pangti Baptist Church.
