The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has reported a series of “wave of change” in its favor in recent days, alongside a growing wave of support from the Naga people. According to the NSCN-IM, the past few days have seen significant changes in their favor, particularly in their encounters with rival groups.

On September 3, 2024, NSCN-IM claimed to have repelled an attack by the Kuki National Army – Burma (KNA-B) and its allies, the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Assam Rifles (AR), in the Naga areas bordering Myanmar. The NSCN stated that despite being ambushed, their forces managed to inflict substantial damage on the opposing forces, resulting in the deaths of 14 KNA-B/PDF members and 4 AR personnel. Additionally, the NSCN captured a large cache of arms and ammunition, including drones, from the areas vacated by the “fleeing enemy.”

“The same thing happened on 3rd September 2024, where the same enemy forces were in a drunken state and asleep waiting to ambush the Naga Army again. They lost 4 lives here and we were able to capture sophisticated arms and ammunition,” the NSCN-IM claimed.

The NSCN-IM further reported another successful encounter on September 11, 2024, where they launched an attack on KNA-B and their allies at around 4 pm. The operation resulted in the neutralization of nine enemy combatants, though the NSCN forces had to retreat due to heavy drone bombardment, it claimed. “Nevertheless, we captured one AK-81 and many rounds of ammunition from the battlefield,” it added.

It also claimed that the Jadonang Brigade, NP Battalion, and Central Command of the Naga Army, in collaboration with CAO and Zeilad staff, integrated 14 members from various factions, including the ZUF (Jenchui Kamei Cessation of Operation), NSCN-K, and NNC, “into the mainstream fold under NSCN,” which included three from NSCN-K, one from NNC and ten from ZUF. The NSCN-IM claimed that these members had admitted to being misled and were welcomed back through peaceful means.

In addition to their military and diplomatic achievements, the NSCN-IM claimed increasing support from the Naga people, visibly in Tamenglong, South Nagalim in the present Manipur state.

“The Rongmei Peoples have again taken the stand in favour of the historic Framework Agreement as the only acceptable means for Indo-Naga political solution,” the NCN-IM said.
