Mokokchung, 12 September (MTNews): With all major roads connecting Mokokchung district headquarters with the rest of the state and country in debilitated condition, a crucial coordination meeting was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room attended by all stakeholders. The meeting was called by the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji.

 

Sources privy to the meeting said that the status of NH-702D (Mariani Road) and NH-2 (Amguri Road and Kohima Road) were deliberated upon. It is learned that the members present entrusted the competent authorities to initiate immediate repair works to keep the roads ‘motorable’. The meeting is also learned to have resolved to meet again after a week’s time. The need for repairing NH-2 falling within the ‘town area’ was also discussed, it is learnt. Official updates on the outcome of the meeting were not available till the time of filing this report.

 

The Executive Engineer, National Highways, Mokokchung Division; the Executive Engineer, Roads and Bridges, Mokokchung Division; representative from NHIDCL; President of Ao Senden; and the Chairman of all 18 wards of Mokokchung town led by the president of All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) attended the meeting, it was reported.
