The Additional Deputy Commissioner & Returning Officer of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), Chumlamo Humtsoe, NCS, has officially announced the ‘Election Programme’ for conducting the general election to constitute the MMC. This announcement is made in pursuance of Section 25 and 26 (1) of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, in conjunction with sub-rule (1) and (2) of Rule 20 of the Nagaland Municipal Rules, 2023.
The ‘Election Programme’ to conduct the general election to the Mokokchung Municipal Council will be as follows:
In accordance with the Government of Nagaland’s recent notifications, the state will conduct its General Election to form the Municipal Councils and Town Councils. These elections will notably include a 33 percent reservation of seats for women.

Electoral Roll:
The Electoral Rolls for the ensuing election to the Municipal Councils and Town Councils have been prepared with reference to January 1, 2024 as the qualifying date and published on 12 April, 2024.
Copies of the Electoral Roll can be accessed from the Sadar Branch, 2nd Floor, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.
Identification of Voters:
In order to safeguard against impersonation under Rule 52 of the Nagaland Municipal Rules 2023, the State Election shall issue separate instructions in this regard in due course of time.
Model Code of Conduct:
With the announcement of the Election Programme through this publication, the Model Code of Conduct for guidance of all the political parties and candidates, adopted by the State Election Commission contained in the Model Code of Conduct for guidance of political parties and candidates, will come into force with immediate effect within the entire Mokokchung Municipal area going to polls. This will be applicable to all candidates, political parties in the state and state government machinery.
