Mokokchung, 3 February (MTNews): In the presence of a large gathering of students, staff, managing board members, and parents of preschoolers, the much-awaited Eureka Preschool was inaugurated at Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) auditorium, Mokokchung on 3 February 2024.
The program began with an invocation by Rev Sr Mary Augustine, Headmistress of QMHSS, followed by an introduction to the Preschool by Rev Fr Sajimon, the Principal.
Elaborating further on the facility, Fr Sajimon informed the gathering that the Preschool will have five demarcated areas, including two fully functional Preschool Classrooms with essential teaching aids and furnishings, two indoor and one outdoor play areas attached to the classrooms.
Speaking further on the place and importance of starting a preschool on the School Campus, he reiterated that the inauguration and blessing of this preschool, named “Eureka Preschool,” was not a new initiative but a continuation of the ongoing efforts of the Catholic Church to provide the best yet affordable high-quality Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), elementary, secondary, and higher education, as clearly reiterated in the new Educational Policy (NEP 2020).
Speaking on the occasion, Sentinenla, District Education Officer (DEO), Mokokchung, congratulated the School management for starting the preschool on the School Campus. She also paid great tribute to the Catholic Church for providing quality education in the State through its wide network of Schools, Colleges, and University. She further highlighted the need and relevance of starting preschools and providing a solid foundation, especially in Early Childhood Care and Education, among students aged between 3 and 8, especially in the context of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020).
The main highlights of the program included a welcome song, action song, introduction, and initiation of the preschoolers by the DEO, Guest of Honor, and the Principal. It was followed by the official blessing of the Preschool wing by Rev Fr Dr Sunny Joseph, the former secretary of the Education Commission, Diocese of Kohima, and Professor, Department of St. Joseph University.
The program concluded with the inauguration of the preschool by Rev Fr Sunny Joseph, Professor, St Joseph University, Sentinenla, the DEO, and Mapo Longkumer, the Village Council Chairman, Mokokchung village.
