A fire broke out in Lijaba Lijen Ward, Mokokchung, in the early hours of Saturday, causing extensive damage to property but resulting in no casualties.

According to officials, the fire call was received at 3:18 a.m., and two water tenders each from Fire Station North and Fire Station South Mokokchung were immediately dispatched to the scene. The teams managed to control the blaze with multiple refills.
Three semi-RCC buildings were completely destroyed, while one was partially affected. The estimated property loss is reported to be Rs 1.51 crore. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit.
