Game Week 5 of the Mokokchung Football League for 35+ players saw Trebuchet FC, Revenant FC, and New Ecclesia FC secure victories, each netting a haul in their respective games at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Thursday.

 

 

In the first match of the day between Trebuchet FC and Terokroker FC, Trebuchet dominated the game all along, clinching a comprehensive 4-0 victory. Imnayanger opened the scoring at the 21st-minute mark, followed by Chubasunep’s goal in the 42nd minute, strengthening Trebuchet’s lead. Imnayanger scored the second of his brace in the 52nd minute, sealing Terokroker’s fate. Bandangkumzuk added the fourth goal of his team’s haul in the 60th minute, sealing the win and marking Terokroker FC’s first loss of the season.

 

In the second match, league leaders Revenant FC narrowly defeated Wasang FC with a score of 4-3. The closely contested game saw Chubangangnen giving Wasang an early lead in the 12th minute. However, Merenchemba of Revenant quickly equalized in the 15th minute, followed by Nokchashilu’s goal in the 19th minute, putting Revenant in the lead. In a thrilling second half, Chubangangnen scored again in the 53rd minute, followed by Tsupongtsuba’s goal in the 60th minute, putting Wasang 3-2 goals ahead. Veteran Rongsenchiba came to the rescue of Revenant FC in the 65th minute, followed by Aoluin’s 67th-minute goal, securing all three points for the defending champions. Wasang FC squandered the opportunity to take a point from the game as they failed to capitalize when they were leading not once but twice in the game. Revenant FC remains the only team to lose a match in the season so far.

 

In another exciting and closely contested match that concluded Game Week 5, New Ecclesia FC faced off against Senso Sporting Club. New Ecclesia emerged victorious with a score of 4-3, thanks to Pangertemsu’s hat-trick in the 1st, 26th, and 50th minutes, along with Moatemjen’s goal in the 46th minute. Senso SC fought back with goals from Sungjemtoshi in the 16th minute, Alimchuba in the 49th minute, and Pursanen in the 61st minute, but New Ecclesia FC held on to register their first win in the season. With just one point from five outings, Wasang is languishing at the bottom of the table.
