Mokokchung, January 26 (MTNews): Mokokchung Friday League (MFL) has announced that the number of clubs will increase from 6 to 8 in Season 3 which, according to a press release, will begin after the General Elections 2023.

New clubs have been asked to apply for the new additional two slots, while existing clubs have been told that if they do not want to compete in Season 3, they must notify the MFL by February 10, 2022.

The MFL also issued the following terms and conditions for the new clubs:

The base registration fee for new clubs shall be Rs 5000. There will be additional registration fees for players, which will be determined by the MFL and will be uniform across all clubs.
During the application process, new clubs must submit at least 14 non-changeable players with valid documents. Following selection, the club is to adhere to MFL squad criteria, which include a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 30 players.

It further informed that submission of invalid and manipulated documents of players will be subjected to disqualification of the application.

“Under any pretext whatsoever, new clubs should not disrupt the structure of the existing clubs by engaging their players. Any new clubs found engaging in inappropriate activities such as players snatching or hunting from the existing clubs may be subject to disqualification of their application,” it added.

The release also mentioned that players from an existing club can play from another club, including new clubs, but only after obtaining a release order from the existing club.

According to the press release, release order will be of two types:

Willful Release: When the player is let go by the club willfully. A player may be let go by a club on its own or after a player asks the club, but without any hesitation.

Restrictive Release: When a player obtains release from a club after he asks the club to release him even though the club doesn’t want to let him go.

It was also said that under Willful Release, a club can accept an unlimited number of players. However, a club can only accept up to three players on Restrictive Release.

Without the release form, applications for new clubs featuring players from other clubs will be rejected. If a new club is not selected, the players included in their application are free to play for any other club.

It further added that if the number of applications does not meet the 8-slot criterion, the league will continue with the current six clubs to preserve an even number of clubs.

If the number of applications received equals the number of available slots, the clubs will be chosen directly if the application fits the required criteria.

If there are more applicants than available slots, the slots will be distributed through an auction. Auction and registration are different processes, and a club selected through auction must still go through registration.

The application’s deadline has been set for February 20, 2023, and the review of documents and corrections to any of the applications is to be completed by February 23, 2023.

The selection, auction, and declaration will take place on February 25, 2023. All other existing MFL terms and conditions must be accepted by new clubs, the release said.
