Mokokchung, March 16 (MTNews): The Land Owners’ Board comprising of Ungma, Mokokchung and Khensa villages has resolved to reaffirm its earlier resolution that until and unless the State Government rectify or amend all sections and clauses regarding “Land and Building Tax under Nagaland Municipal Act 2001,” the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) election shall be banned within the jurisdiction of the three villages.

This was resolved during the General Meeting of the board held on 16 March on the issue of Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) Election.

The board further maintained that since the indigenous land holding rights of the Aos, “which has been secured through the blood and toil of our ancestors,” is safeguarded by Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution and, therefore, to ensure that these rights are not compromised in any manner whatsoever, the Land Owners’ Board comprising of the three villages (Ungma, Mokokchung and Khensa) has reaffirm its earlier resolution.
