The 5th edition of the Mokokchung Night Carnival was inaugurated on December 12, 2024, with a short program held at the MTBA Church basement. The event was graced by Lanuakum, Deputy Chairman of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), as the Inaugural Patron.
In his address, he expressed gratitude to the Adventure and Motorsport Association Mokokchung (AMAM) for their contribution, emphasizing that their efforts made the night carnival possible. He highlighted the carnival’s importance in providing opportunities to upcoming entrepreneurs for showcasing their talents and conducting various activities in the town. He also appealed to all citizens to act responsibly, follow town regulations, and maintain cleanliness, urging everyone to celebrate the festive season with high spirits. Concluding his speech, he extended heartfelt Christmas and New Year wishes to all.
The program was led by Dr. Obendangla, with an invocation prayer led by Akangtemsu Yaden, Youth Director of MTBA. Dr. T. Temjen, Treasurer of AMAM, welcomed everyone and expressed hope for the success of the night carnival. The audience was treated to a soulful performance of O Holy Nightby Tiaso Ozukum and a special performance by the Pipe Band of Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Mokokchung Night Carnival, running from December 12 to 14, features an array of stalls offering a variety of food items, local crafts, and other goods. Activities such as a bouncy house provide entertainment for children, while other attractions cater to visitors of all ages. The event has become a cherished tradition, drawing not only the residents of Mokokchung but also visitors from far and wide who wish to experience the vibrant and joyous spirit of the holiday season.
