In preparation for the upcoming International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Mokokchung is set to host a Half Marathon event on 22 June 2024. Scheduled to kick off at 5:30 AM from DEF, Mokokchung, the marathon will conclude at Main Police Point (Imlong Place). Participants will compete in two categories: High School/Higher Secondary Students (Male & Female) and Open (Senior) (Male & Female).
The announcement came following a monthly review meeting of the District Level Committee for Narcotic Coordination Centre (NCORD) at the DC’s conference hall in Mokokchung on 18 June 2024. Chaired by Thsuvisie Phoji, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, the meeting underscored the meeting’s pivotal role in combating the drug menace in the district. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to continue overseeing CCTV inspections at pharmacies across the district as part of the ongoing efforts.
Regarding the Substance Abuse Awareness Program, District Education Officer (DEO) confirmed its continuation post-summer break. Senior Superintendent of Police (Sr. SP) Mokokchung also briefed attendees on recent police initiatives against drug abuse.
