The residents of Archemok Sector, Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung have undertaken the repair of potholes along the stretch of road connecting key institutions such as the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), and the District Veterinary Hospital, Mokokchung to the NH-702D (Mokokchung-Mariani Road).

This stretch of road is also a crucial route for local residents, with the colony becoming a sought-after residential area in Mokokchung town.

The road has been in a poor state for over a decade, causing considerable inconvenience to residents and daily commuters. However, on January 25, 2025, repair work began with funding from the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) and the collaborative efforts of the community. Local residents provided labor and resources, including pickup trucks to transport materials such as sand, cement, water, and chip stones. Approximately 40 community members worked together to patch the road that had been neglected since the last maintenance over ten years ago.

The road will remain closed to vehicles until Tuesday, January 28, and is expected to reopen on January 29. Commuters traveling to the institutions have been advised to use the District Jail Road during this period.

The residents have appealed to the concerned government department to properly carpet the stretch of road, considering its importance as a route to major institutions of the district. They also expressed hope that the competent authorities would take the necessary steps to address the situation effectively.
