Mokokchung, 2 August (MTNews): The Mokokchung Senso Kaketshir Telongjem celebrated its Cultural Day program on today at Arjuma, Mokokchung Village ground. The students were divided into four groups and various competitions on traditional sports and activities such as log car-race, bamboo climbing, cock-fight, traditional ways of making fire, paddy husking, etc., were held.

The primary objective of the program was to foster a sense of cultural awareness and appreciation for their customs and traditions passed down from their forefathers.

 

Guru J Nungsang Longkumer, as the guest speaker, exhorted the students on upholding and respecting the cultural values. He pointed out that westernization is at its highest peak, with modernization sweeping the entire world and endangering our traditional cultural values, which are on the verge of extinction. He urged the students to value and embrace their precious rich culture, which is “pure and a source of pride for our forefathers,” adding that “it is our identity, which cannot be taken or stolen from us.”
