Mokokchung will represent Nagaland at the 8th National Masters Games, scheduled to be held in Pune from January 27 to 31, 2026.
A contingent of 16 veteran football players from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League, along with a coach and a team manager, has departed for Pune to participate in the event. The Games are organised by the Super Masters Games & Sports Federation of India and conducted under its aegis.
This year, Nagaland is fielding three men’s football teams in the Masters category. The 40+ category will be represented by teams from Dimapur and Mokokchung as Team A and Team B respectively, while the 50+ category team will be represented by Kohima.
The 40+ Mokokchung team is led by team manager Tatongrenla and coach Mohan Ram Bhadu. The team comprises 16 players and has undergone several practice sessions ahead of the tournament. As part of its preparation, the team played exhibition matches against the Morning Premier League, Kohima, and other teams drawn from the 35+ Mokokchung Football League.
The Mokokchung team squad includes N Jamonger Ao, N Chuba Phom, Lanuchuba Walling, Sentiyanger, Tsüpongtsüba, Tiayanger, Chumaksangba, Tiatoshi Imchen, Zululemba Ao, Repamangyang, Mliyapang Jamir, L Moakaba, Talilepba Jamir, Onentoshi, Chubangangnen Imchen, and Sakutemjen Ao.
The team jersey was unveiled on January 24, 2026, by Vesupra Kezo, NPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung.
Apart from football in the Masters categories, the 8th National Masters Games will feature competitions in several other disciplines, including hockey, yoga, athletics, kabaddi, powerlifting, swimming, weightlifting, arm wrestling, volleyball, and badminton.
