Mokokchung, August 11 (MTNews): The first Mokokchung Town Inter-Ward Volleyball Tournament organized by Kumlong Sporting Association (KSA) under the aegis of Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) got underway at Multi-sports Complex, Mokokchung on August 11.
The tourney was officially declared open by Chumlamo Humtsoe ADC & Administrator MMC, Mokokchung as the guest of honour.
Humtsoe in his speech encouraged the players to participate in the tournament with full dedication. Stating that athletics and sportspersons from neighbouring states are today representing the nation in international level, he said Nagas have the talent in sports, and that they should therefore pursue the path for continual growth through hard-work and discipline with a pure intention to shine at international podium.
He also added that as sportspersons they also give due importance to their health and do away with substances that might harm their health.
Allen Imchen, Vice president MDVA also spoke at the event. He informed that KSA and MDVA has inked a MoU and that the most important agreement point is that the Champion Team will be granted free entry to the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy.
Chairman of Kumlong Ward Authority, S Lanu Imchen, delivered a brief speech and welcome note was said by Mongshin Longkumer President KSA.
Dilong, Artang, Alongmen, Sungkomen, Mongsenbai, Marepkong, Penli, Yimyu and Kumlong are the nine wards participating in the tournament. The opening match was played between Artang and Dilong where Artang triumphed by 25-11; 25-15.
