Pongen emphasized the rich cultural heritage of the Ao community, stressing that women must understand their responsibilities to preserve tribal culture and traditions for future generations. She called on women to work for the preservation of their mother tongue, teach children the importance of the exogamous marriage system, and maintain traditional practices, including clan systems, attire, and customs.

She further stated that every woman should strive to be a role model and a resourceful leader to guide society toward greater prosperity and development.

Sashikokla Jamir, Assistant Professor, Fazl Ali College, spoke on the topic “Women’s Role in  Environmental Preservation.” She stated that women view the environment as the life support system of humanity and the source of all life. Jamir explained that women play multiple roles in the family, community, and in managing natural resources. Given their direct dependence on resources like water, forests, and land, women often have a stronger awareness of the need to protect the environment.

Jamir also discussed the Christian responsibility to protect the environment for both present and future generations, based on biblical teachings. She highlighted the contributions of women at national and international levels in environmental protection and addressed key topics such as waste management, rainwater harvesting, reducing waste, reusing and recycling, avoiding plastic use, and the importance of educating girls and empowering women.

The seminar began with a keynote address from the president of Langpangkongtsür Telongjem, Mokokchung Town, Tiasola, and concluded with a vote of thanks from I Alemla Jamir, convener. The event featured special performances by Salulamang Telongjem and Chuchuyimlang Watsü Telongjem, Mokokchung, and was chaired by Nungsanglemla and B Asangla.
