Mokokchung, 3 September (MTNews): Residents of Yimyu ward in Mokokchung took proactive steps to address the deteriorating condition of ‘Nagachari road’ by launching a voluntary road repair initiative on Saturday. The primary objective of this project was to revitalize the road segment that extends from the Indian Oil fuel station to Khensa gate, via NI Jamir School.

The road’s deplorable state, which was last repaired nearly 15 years ago, has had a significant impact on the community. Moasunep Longchar, a ward resident and a volunteer leading the repair initiative, emphasized the road’s critical role in connecting key locations, including NI Jamir School and the EAC Office, Ongpangkong.

Despite its pivotal importance, the government has failed to initiate any maintenance efforts, leaving residents to grapple with the increasingly dire condition of the road.

The repair initiative represented a collaborative endeavor among ward volunteers. Some generously provided financial support, while others offered the use of their vehicles, and many contributed their labor to the project, as Longchar explained.
