The recent rape and murder of a 35-year-old mother from Mahakam Village in Pimla on April 7, 2025, has elicited strong condemnation from various organizations across Nagaland.
The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association expressed that this heinous act is “not only an attack on an innocent individual but also a direct attack on the safety and dignity of women in our society.”
They emphasized that such crimes “breed fear, insecurity, and trauma, reinforcing a culture of violence that must be eradicated.” The association called for the perpetrators to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and urged authorities to ensure that justice is served without delay. They also reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for “justice, security, and equality where women no longer have to live in fear.”
Similarly, the Western Sumi Hoho conveyed being “deeply saddened, shocked, and outraged” by the incident. They highlighted that “the discovery of her lifeless body being callously discarded by the roadside has sent a shockwave and has traumatized every section of people in our society.” The organization urged law enforcement agencies to undertake a thorough and impartial investigation, leaving no stone unturned in identifying and apprehending the culprits swiftly to ensure speedy justice for the deceased and her family. They also called for the severest exemplary punishment for the perpetrators to deter such occurrences in the future.
The National Socialist Women’s Organization of Nagalim (NSWON) described the crime as a “beastly act” and expressed that “such crime committed against a woman is really disturbing as no woman deserves to face this kind of tragic end.” They urged law enforcement authorities to spare no effort in tracking down the real culprit and ensuring that justice is served. NSWON extended their thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family, hoping for strength to face the pain and sorrow.
