The Capacity Building Commission, Karmayogi Bharat, and the Government of Nagaland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mission Karmayogi at the Capital Convention Hall, Kohima, alongside a workshop organized by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.
Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Sentiyanger Imchen, expressed gratitude to the Capacity Building Commission for introducing and conducting orientations for state officials on various aspects of Mission Karmayogi. He highlighted that Mission Karmayogi, launched by the Government of India in 2020, aims to build a competent and future-ready civil service that ensures effective and efficient public service delivery. He added that most states have partnered with the Capacity Building Commission to train officials.
Imchen emphasized that regular and need-based training empowers officers with updated knowledge, functional skills, and the right attitude to address complex governance issues. He encouraged officers to use the digitalized iGOT Karmayogi platform to update their skills, particularly for those in remote districts who cannot attend in-person training. He noted that departments will provide data on officers and trainings attended, which will form part of performance assessments. He called upon officials to see training as an essential investment for effective governance and service delivery.
Expressing gratitude to Dr. Ramaswami Balasubramaniam, Soumi Banerjee, and their team, Imchen said the MoU marks the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership in strengthening governance and capacity building in Nagaland.
Akunu S. Meyase, Director of the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima, highlighted the state’s commitment to continuous learning and skilling. She outlined existing initiatives, including foundational training for new recruits, mid-career training programs, and specialized courses in collaboration with national and other state training institutes. She also informed that ATI is developing a web portal in coordination with the IT Department to track training history and needs for all employees linked to the Personal Information Management System.
Dr. Balasubramaniam, Member-HR, Capacity Building Commission, briefed participants on the mission’s objectives, outcomes, Capacity Building Plans, the Karmayogi Competency Model, and the NSCSTI Eight Pillars for Standardisation.
The day-long workshop was attended by administrative heads, heads of departments, and senior state officials. Resource persons included Soumi Banerjee, General Manager of Strategic Alliance and Partnership, Karmayogi Bharat, Akshay Sharma, Program Manager, and Rahul Porwal, Consultant, Capacity Building Commission.
